Majella has joined LacPatrick as a Farm Advisor for its ROI suppliers. Originally from Kiltyclogher, Co Leitrim, Majella has a BSc in Veterinary Nursing and a BSc (Honours) in Sustainable Agriculture.
Majella has extensive practical and technical experience working with dairy farmers in all areas of farming and advisory and is looking forward to meeting all of LacPatrick’s ROI suppliers over the coming months.
In the final year of her Veterinary Nursing degree, Majella was awarded the President’s prize for ‘Enterprising Student of the Year’ for demonstrating leadership and entrepreneurship by combining veterinary and agricultural experience to serve the farming community.
Majella has also been awarded the Irish Student Veterinary Nurse of the Year Award for raising the profile of veterinary nurses through her work in veterinary practice with farming clients.
Majella has a keen interest in the behaviour of livestock and the identification of factors that negatively affect cattle performance. She has completed a study on “The psychological and physical effects of stress on milk and meat production in cattle”. Majella has a distinction in the FETAC/QQI Level 6 course Best Practice in Milking course. This course was developed by Teagasc, AHI and the FRS to develop milker skills to ensure that all cows are milked efficiently and effectively integrating top quality milk, food safety, herd health and dairy cow welfare.
