Gabriel D’Arcy, Chief Executive
Prior to joining Town of Monaghan Co-op in August 2014 Gabriel D’Arcy had been Managing Director of Bord na Mona since 2008. There he led the transformation of the organisation to deliver its vision, “A New Contract with Nature”. This was a diversification strategy to move Bord na Mona away from dependency on peat operations to embrace Renewable Energy and Resource Recovery in its portfolio.
Prior to this, Gabriel worked for almost 20 years with the Kerry Group and was closely involved in the rapid expansion of Kerry’s Ingredients Division in Europe of which he became Commercial Director. Here he played a key role in the development of a European Food Ingredients Division by implementing pan-European strategies while also ensuring alignment with core Kerry values.
Gabriel began his career in the Irish Defence Forces where he served for 12 years, both at home and abroad. As part of his cadetship at Military College, he completed undergraduate studies at University College Galway graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree (Hons) in 1981. He also holds an MSc from University College Dublin from 1988, and an MBA from Kinston University Business School, 1996.
He is married to Niamh, and has four children.
